tools...

i've just realized today, that everyday i use a tool i love.
my microplane. what did they do before these?
my two favorites are here.
if i had to get only one, it would be the large one, because it is easier to grate cheese on it. i have used many models of the microplane, but my fav is the one with the garlic bulb on the front, the "fine ribbon grater" 35000 series. i grate chocolate on it, lemon zest, garlic, shallots, onions, parmesan cheese, just about anything. the smaller one is nice too for small things, especially if it has the cover, so it doesn't get dinged up in the drawer, and the rubber foot pads (can you see the little black things, at the end?) that way it doesn't scratch up your counter. it also has a new ergonomic handle. only williams-sononma and sur la table carry the nicer versions, that i know of. they are about $12-$15 depending. put it on your christmas list if you don't have one....

so today i did the stairmaster for 45 minutes, 400 calories, 110 levels, and 2.3 miles.
average heart rate 123.

i made goetta for breakfast
1/4 cup blueberries
1 banana
4 bites of tres leches cake
caesar salad with steak and tomatoes, leftovers (using my microplane for my cheese)
mache salad with tomatoes and walnut tarragon vinaigrette (using my microplane to grate, instead of mince the shallot)
1 apple

120 ounces of water
